Holland – Christmas Market in Caves

A visit to the Christmas market is always a unique experience for me. One inside a cave was on top an unforgettable highlight for me. This day trip was included in our Amsterdam group tour. We left the hotel early in the morning (it was still dark outside). It was a long car drive to the caves. Valkenburg lies in the province of Limburg, approx. 2 hours from Amsterdam city. The earlier you get there, the less crowded it will be. There are several caves that you can visit. First, we visited Gemeetegrot, where you could enjoy a hot cup of mulled wine, marvel at magical stands with self-made goods (but also cheap items) and thousands of sparkling lights. Don’t forget to try the famous Stroopwafels – they are amazing! We moved forward to the second Xmas cave Fluweelengrot, before we finished our tour at a restaurant nearby. Both caves were very beautiful. It was well worth a trip to this unusual place.
