Hello again! (^-^*)/
Here comes part two of my trip to London. I actually never thought that I would visit the most popular city of England twice a year! So after I have been to London (for the first time) with my male friends in Summer 2015, I did another short trip to the United Kingdom with my female friends. Guess what was our main reason for travelling to London…. Let me help you, eeehm, 5 girls, empty suitcases… now you probably know it *g* yes, SHOPPING!! (what else, haha?!)
We started our tour on Friday evening from Basel airport. We arrived at London Gatwick airport and went straight to our apartment, which we booked via airbnb.
On Saturday, three of us (including me) went to visit the Madame Tussauds, one of the most famous attraction in London. We could discover lots of various stars from all around the world. We could experience a 4D movie with Mavel Super Heroes, which was quite fun and at the end we took pictures with famous characters from the Star Wars movies. After our tour we met the other two ladies and we did some shopping in Oxford Street before we had afternoon tea at Hilton London Euston Hotel. Since it was December, we wanted to enjoy some christmasy atmosphere. We therefore decided to visit Winter Wonderland (London’s spectacular Christmas destination) in Hyde Park. The entrance to the park is free and the park is one of the best places when you are searching for festive shows, food, mulled wine, Christmas markets, fairground rides and more.
On Sunday we did some sightseeing. We enjoyed a spectacular view of the city thanks to the London Eye, the giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames. Right afterwards, we bought a ticket for a Hop-On-Hop-Off bus where we could learn a lot about London. We spent the whole day long with sightseeing… and we therefore got very hungry in the evening ^.^ We had dinner at one of Jamie Oliver’s restaurant (Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen). The menu was very special (I understood only half of the menu *lol*). So if you like to try for example crispy pig’s cheek, Clarence Court egg, Goldrush apple or pheasant, spelt, smoked ham hock, turnips with quince mustard or other unique dishes of Jamie, I recommend you to book early enough. The restaurant is quite popular!
Monday = shopping day!! We have been at the Westfield Stratford City (not to be confused with the Westfield London), one of the largest shopping mall in London. It offers a myriad of shops and restaurants and it is open from 10:00 a.m – 9:00 p.m. during the weekday (9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sundays). We shopped the whole day long! After our shopping tour we went to the cinema together, which was also inside the mall. We watched ‘Christmas with the Coopers’ and had the entire hall to ourselves.
London is just amazing and it made even more fun with my lovely friends!! Can’t wait for the next shopping trip with you girls!! ♡
