I recently went on a cafe hopping adventure in the charming city of Lucerne, Switzerland and discovered some amazing spots for coffee lovers. From cozy little nooks to elegant establishments with stunning views, here are a few cafés that stood out:

TWO HANDS

This café, previously known as the Gugelhupf Café by Dr. Oetker (blog post here), was a beloved spot of mine before it closed down. I never had the chance to visit it after reopening, so I was very much looking forward to having breakfast here. The unique and playful touch of swing seats at this café make it a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a charming atmosphere. This café is quite popular (especially for families) and weekends tend to be busy, so reservation in advance may be necessary.

ROKKA

My better half recommended me this new café in the Old Town of Lucerne. The ROKKA Café opened in February 2023 and it belongs to the Hotel ‘The Lubo’. The café may be petite, but its ambiance is full of character. You can enjoy a variety of drinks such as fresh juice, coffee, tea, cocktails and even bao buns! If you are looking for my personal recommendation, I suggest trying the Matcha Cappuccino – it was so good!

NEGISHI

With its welcoming ambiance and delicious Asian cuisine, this restaurant was the perfect spot for a midday meal! Negishi is my favourite Sushi restaurant in town! What makes it even more special is the stunning interior design, which features hanging flowers and other unique decor elements that create an exceptional atmosphere. The vibe is truly special and adds to the overall dining experience.

CHÂTEAU GÜTSCH

For a more sophisticated experience, head to the Château Gütsch and enjoy a cup of coffee or a refreshing cocktail with a view. The American Bar overlooks the city and the lake, offering breathtaking panoramic views while you sip your drink. The bar at Château Gütsch is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a memorable drinking experience with one of the best views in Lucerne!

MILL’FEUILLE

This quaint little café near the Spreuer Bridge serves up delicious pastries and coffee in a cozy atmosphere. My personal highlight of this place is its winter garden, which is located along the scenic River Reuss in Lucerne. The restaurant Mill’Feuille is a wonderful dining destination that offers a fantastic combination of delicious food and warm ambience. Make sure you try the Mill’Feuille, which is their specialty dessert made with puff pastry and a creamy filling.
