As someone who loves a good afternoon tea, I was super excited to visit the Mandarin Oriental Palace in Lucerne for their highly anticipated tea service. The ‘Palace Hotel’, formerly known by that name, was transformed and rebranded as the ‘Mandarin Oriental Palace’ in September 2022. The hotel offers a signature Afternoon Tea experience in the beautiful Belle Époque Veranda, which overlooks Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountain panorama.
I booked the first slot at 14:00 and as soon as we arrived at the Mandarin Oriental Palace in Lucerne, we were greeted warmly by a young gentleman. He led us to the wonderful veranda, where we would be enjoying our tea. Once we were seated, he took the time to guide us through the impressive selection of sandwiches, scones and pastries that had been presented to us, explaining each delicacy with great care and attention to detail. I personally found the price quite expensive, particularly on weekends where it can cost up to 90 Swiss Francs, however, the overall experience, the delightful treats and the stunning location made it well worth it in my opinion. You could order various types of tea multiple times throughout the afternoon tea session. The sandwiches and pastries were so delicious that we were tempted to ask for more, but we were unsure if we could ask for second servings. In the end, we did not request for additional treats as our tummy was full and satisfied. Whether you are a tea connoisseur or just looking for a special treat, you won’t be disappointed by the Mandarin Oriental Palace’s afternoon tea experience!
