In Tokyo, you have the Disney Resort. In Osaka, it is the Universal Studios Japan! If you love amusement parks and want to spend a day at Hogwarts or just want to see Hello Kitty, Snoopy, Minions & Co., you need to add it to your itinerary. My last visit at the USJ was many years ago (we used to go there, when we were kids) . Today, the park feels sparkling new with the Minion themed area, Flying Dinosaur, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the limited “Cool Japan” events during summer season. The Universal Studios Japan is a very busy park, so I recommend you to go early before opening or better – get your tickets online. If you have a little money left, go and grab a Express Pass to avoid the crowds and long lines at the attractions. They are a bit pricy, but the money is definitely worth it! I was super happy that I got one for the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu XR Ride. So the “Universal Cool Japan” events are just for a specific time and in 2016 it was with Evangelion, Attack on Titan, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (lucky me), Monster Hunter and Biohazard. This year it is with Sailor Moon, Final Fantasy and Detective Conan by the way (and I am not in Japan, arg!!!!).

Also an important information to Harry Potter fans. After you entered the park, I definitely recommend you to get a ticket for the Harry Potter area. At peak times, you can visit the Wizarding World only with a timed entry ticket. The tickets are available just next to the JAWS area. Do this at first – seriously – otherwise you won’t be able to enter.

Enjoy the food, enjoy the rides, have fun and take pictures with the popular character mascots at the USJ. There are also various shows during the day, so check out the streets. The 3D simulators and the Terminator 2:3D attraction is worthwhile. Last but not least, don’t go home as long as it is still bright, otherwise you will miss the Starlight Parade! It is magical!
