Things to do in Ginza – Art Aquarium, Rooftop Terrace, Sanrio World, Stationary Shops

Allow me to share my personal day trip to Ginza, where I had a multitude of places to explore! To make sure I didn’t miss anything, I made a detailed schedule with fixed times (I know, it sounds stressful, but I was actually grateful for my organized schedule lol!). Join me as I guide you through my thoughtfully planned journey through the vibrant streets of Ginza, where every moment promises a blend of culture, culinary delights and thrilling experiences.

The day began early, catching the 07:15 train on the Ginza Line from Shibuya. I was getting really excited as I thought about all the things that I would do that day. First stop: Starbucks for a steaming cup of coffee. Since the Ginza Six Rooftop Garden opens at 7am and is open to public, I thought it would be the perfect spot to enjoy my morning coffee. It is a peaceful oasis surrounded by lush greenery. Apart from a lone businessman and a few cleaning staff, I had the entire rooftop to myself, which made the experience even more special. However, the highlight was unexpectedly spotting the Tokyo Tower in the distance – a delightful surprise that added to the magic of the moment.

After spending roughly an hour there, I made my way to Tricolore Ginza, a charming café where I enjoyed my Shokupan (Japanese Milk Bread). After breakfast, I wasted no time and promptly made my way to Asahi Inari Shrine, arriving just as it opened at 09:30. I was super excited to explore this place that inspired Makoto Shinkai’s Anime Movie “Weathering with You”. For detailed information, please check out my latest blog post!

Arriving at 10:00 to beat the crowds, I was mesmerized by the surreal displays at the Art Aquarium Museum. It felt like stepping into another world, where shimmering fish gracefully danced in ethereal tanks. Here, you can marvel at thousands of goldfish swimming in glass vessels of various shapes and sizes, illuminated by dynamic projections and multicolored lights. The museum has about 70 types of goldfish, giving visitors a calm break from busy Tokyo.

After leaving the museum, I had some time before lunch, so I dashed over to see the Kabukiza theater from outside. Then, I made a quick stop at Itoya and Loft for stationery, the perfect spots for paper lovers like me. Around one o’clock, I headed to Salon Ginza Sabon to try their matcha parfait, which I had seen on Instagram hehe. The lunch set – I had Karaage – was super delicious as well! In the afternoon, I hurried up to Kiriko Terrace, the rooftop of Tokyu Plaza Ginza. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many nice rooftops in Ginza! Later on, I popped into Sanrio World Ginza to browse some Sanrio items. As the day neared its end, I could not resist stopping by the Karel Capek Store. Surrounded by fragrant and colorful teas, I selected a few to take home, creating tangible memories of a wonderful day in Ginza.
