Hello my loves, how are you doing? I am back from my vacation and – well, diving straight into the next adventure: Fantasy Basel, the Swiss Comic Convention! (Yes, I know I still owe you my Japan travel diary, but let’s be honest: if I don’t post this now, it will end up buried for a whole year again… haha. Life is just so busy.)
Can you believe another year has passed already? This year’s Fantasy Basel was even bigger (and more expensive, lol) than before, and they truly brought in some amazing VIP guests. Of course, there was never enough time to see everything, but I did manage to see Ed Speleers live on stage!!! I have known this charming man since Eragon and it was such a joy to see him up close. Sadly, Stanislav Yanevski (a.k.a. Viktor Krum from Harry Potter) didn’t make it to the stage. I am not sure if there was a last-minute schedule change or if he was unwell – either way, such a pity!
But we got lucky in another way: we made it to the German Voice Actor Talk and hearing those voices was like unlocking a time capsule from our childhood:
- Santiago Ziesmer (SpongeBob)
- Nicola Grupe-Arnoldi (Chibiusa)
- Daniel Schlauch (Monkey D. Luffy)
- Amadeus Strobl (Goku Jr. / Shoto Todoroki)
- Tommy Morgenstern (Son Goku)
As soon as they started talking, I felt it; goosebumps, memories, everything all at once! Thank you to these amazing people for giving life to the characters who shaped our childhoods and still bring us joy today.
Time flew by so fast. We wandered through so many different halls, from Star Wars sets to gaming arenas and this year, the sports hall was much bigger than before, with plenty of new activities and space to explore. Of course, there was tons of merchandising, stunning cosplays, the ever-inspiring Artist Alley and the Cosplay Village.
By the time the day ended, I was tired, but my heart was fuller than ever. Events like Fantasy Basel remind me why I love these worlds so much – they bring people together, spark creativity and let us be ourselves, even if just for a few days. Until next time, keep dreaming, keep creating and never stop geeking out over the things you love ✨
(And yes, I will finish that Japan travel diary soon… maybe)
